Dear Convention Attendees:
At last, the moment you have been patiently waiting for… the 2009 convention
registration information! Here you will find the
class descriptions,
supply list for each class,
teacher bios and other helpful information.
In order to register for the convention, you MUST fill out the registration
form and the workshop selection form. Be sure to choose only
one workshop for each time slot, since they will be conducted in separate
rooms. This year you can register online using PayPal, or you can register
by mail by sending the completed forms along with your check made payable
to IAMPETH to:

Please
DO NOT use registered or certified mail.
Some other things to consider while at the convention:
WHAT TO BRING
The supply list for each session can be found in the descriptions of
sessions. Each and every supply item is not absolutely necessary for
you to participate in class. The list is only a guide to which items
may be used. Tip: Double or triple bag any inks or paints when flying.
We will have water containers, paper towels, and those basic kinds of
materials on hand at the hotel.
PIECES OF YOUR WORK FOR DISPLAY
We always enjoy seeing what others have been working on. In this way
we continue to be sources of encouragement and inspiration to each other,
and hopefully to others who may learn of us through media coverage.
WHAT TO WEAR
It may be hot outside, but the classrooms may still be chilly! In
the past, some people dress up more than others. Keep in mind that Nashville
is very comfortable with blue jeans, so wear what you like to wear.
The welcome event, The Past Presidents' Reception, will be casual as
are all of the classes. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool and exercise
facility, so you can bring your fitness togs.
The banquet is the only "dressy event". More about the banquet below.
VENDOR
Paper & Ink Arts is taking pre-orders for IAMPETH!
Get EVERYTHING you want by pre-ordering. Brenda will be bringing an
exciting array of goodies for shopping but place your pre-order so that
you can pick up that special color of ink or book. Pre-Orders can be
picked up starting at 11AM, Monday July 13, Registration Day, when Brenda
plans to open.
Pre-Order by June 30 and be sure to mention "This is an IAMPETH order!".
You can call 1-800-736-7772, fax 1-888-736-7773, write
an email to paperinkarts@aol.com
or order on the website: www.paperinkarts.com
(At the end of your order, there's a place to "send us a message" on
the website. Use that spot to note it's an IAMPETH order.) You can pay
ahead or at IAMPETH.
The (marvelous and helpful!) Nashville Guild members are invited to
shop at IAMPETH and place pre-orders so they can benefit from free shipping
as well. Thanks for all your help to make this a great year for IAMPETH!
Paper & Ink Arts will be open Monday July 13 beginning at 11am through
Thursday morning.
BUSINESS MEETING
All members of IAMPETH are invited to attend the official business meeting.
At this time, old and new business will be conducted, financial statement
will be reported, and officers will be elected.
SILENT AUCTION
Friday evening, following the business meeting. All members are welcome
to donate an item or service for this annual fundraiser.
Any items of interest to a penman are welcome. In the past we have had
paper, books, tools, books on tape, lights, jewelry, ink wells, paint,
inks, frames, note cards, pens, points and the most sought after….original
pieces of work!
If you have a service that you would like to auction, (like how to put
a pen nib into the holder correctly or a custom monogram or an envelope
addressed) then please offer that as well.
Please help us to continue the tradition. This annual event is always
a little crazy and always a hit!
EVENING OUTINGS
Two evening outings have been planned for your enjoyment. On Tuesday
night we will be treated to a reception and demonstrations by Plaza
Arts. Items will be available for purchase.
On Thursday, those who wish may wish to dine together at one of Nashville's
hot spots. (Dinner price is not included). Details forthcoming. You
may sign up for these outings at registration.
FIELD TRIP
A trip to Nashville would not be complete without visiting a few of
the Music City's most famous sites. Our field trip will include a trip
to the the original Grand Ole Opry- the historic Ryman Auditorium, Belle
Meade Plantation, the Parthenon, Music Row, and conclude with lunch
(on your own) at the opulent Opryland Hotel or the less expensive Opry
Mills next door. We'll make it back in time to get ready for the
All
Things Lettered Tabletop Competition and the final night banquet.
BANQUET
The annual banquet will be a 60th celebration of our organization, complete
with a table decorating contest! Guilds from all over have been invited
to decorate a table for the theme of their choice. The
All
Things Lettered competition asks participants to decorate a round
table using as many lettered items as possible to create a one of a
kind presentation. Tables may include name cards, table numbers, menus,
all fictitious of course. See More on All Things Lettered Table Competition.
This year's banquet will be a wonderful
Southern buffet, and is included in the registration cost whether or
not the member attends, as a way of encouraging everyone to stay for
this final night celebration.
THE NASHVILLE GUILD
The Nashville Calligraphy Guild members are hosts for this years
convention and have been working hard to ensure that you have a wonderful
experience. For those who find it difficult to walk, members will be
on hand to drive to nearby dining establishments.
AND FINALLY…
When you register, it's for the entire week. We don't take partial registrations
or registrations "per class". The fee you pay for the entire, information-packed
week is what you might pay elsewhere for just one workshop.
So fill out the forms and get ready!
