I hope you are all as excited to come to Milwaukee in August as
I am to be hosting you! This year, online registration will begin
for current members on March 17th at 11:00 AM CST. After you complete the registration form you can pay using
PayPal. Registration will open to the public on March 31 and is
expected to fill the convention quickly. Keep in mind, space is
limited so register early to secure your spot and your top class
selections. We are again running three classes at a time and we
are asking for you to make a first and second choice for each class
period. Please pay special attention to the skill level required
for each class. There is something for everyone and I am sure you
will find it hard to pick just one per session!
Within a month after registration you will receive an email (or
snail mail if necessary) with the list of classes that you will
be attending, so you can start gathering your supplies.
Don’t forget to reserve your hotel room and sign up for the shuttle!
Here’s a sneak peak at what’s in store for you this year:
a ‘Traditional’ Wisconsin Tailgate dinner buffet on opening night
(members no additional charge; guests $45), followed by a presentation
by the Master Penmen regarding their program. An ‘open to the public’
night - we will be inviting others to see who we are! The evening will
begin with a short talk by Rick Muffler followed by demonstrations
by YOU! Of course we’ll have the Round Robin and the Silent Auction
and we’ll wrap up the week with a fabulous banquet ($45 each person)
which I guarantee will be magical!
REGISTRATION: is for the entire week of classes.
We do not take partial registrations or “per class” registrations.
The fee you pay for the entire, information-packed week is what
you might pay elsewhere for just one workshop.
HOTEL RESERVATIONS: You can make your
hotel reservations online or by
calling them directly at 414-271-7250. If you run into any problems
with the booking process, please let me know right away (contact
information is listed below). We may need to add more rooms on certain
nights if our original block of rooms fills up. This is easily done
as long as rooms are available. Thanks for your cooperation.
CLOTHING: It is rare for Wisconsin to get into
the 90’s, but considering it’s been 40 in February it’s anyone’s
guess! Remember though, the air conditioning can be a bit cool.
Our Monday night banquet is casual. Our Saturday night banquet is
dressy.
VENDOR: John Neal Bookseller will be
our vendor for the week, bringing all the items a penman could wish
for! You may want to consider placing a pre-order to pick up at
the convention. His website is
www.johnnealbooks.com
Their phone number is 800-369-9598. You can place a pre-order
until July 25th, and be sure to tell them that it is for
pick-up at the IAMPETH convention. When you are ready to pre-order,
you can take advantage of an easy shopping feature of their website.
Find and click IAMPETH 2012 under Instructor Book/Supply
Lists in the menu on the left side of their website page. Then click
on each of your instructors for their recommended items. Decide
what you need and click on the ones to add to your cart! You can
then add any other items from their catalog or website.
DISPLAY YOUR WORK: There will be tables set
up for displaying members work. Everyone always enjoys seeing what
others have been working on. In this way we continue to be sources
of encouragement and inspiration to each other. If you’re a beginner,
please do not be intimated to display your work proudly and also
use this opportunity to show your work and get advice on how to
improve your skills. Having others critique your work is the best
way to learn how to get better.
