Rooms: $79 a night. Free airport shuttle from 4am to midnight. To use the free
shuttle you need to call on the courtesy phone by the Baggage Claim area and the shuttle will
come to get you.
Click Here to reserve your room online.
Admission to exhibition (both days): $15 per person. This will help to help
cover the cost of the meeting room, since this exhibition has come upon us so recently and
was not pre-planned in our budget. With our summer convention at the Hilton in The Disney
World Resort, the Hilton Hotel in Kansas City lowered their meeting room rates to become one
of the cheapest in the city.
Scanning costs: IAMPETH is paying for the charges
of scanning the entire collection; it is estimated that this will cost between $2,500 - $3,000.
These scans will be available to our members and others on the web site. They will be put
up throughout the year. We will also make full size prints of the best pieces for viewing
at our conventions in the Archive Room.
Contributions: If anyone wishes to contribute toward this expense, it will be
greatly appreciated. Checks should be made out to “IAMPETH” and designated as “Healey Collection
Project”. All contributions should be sent directly to our treasurer, Kathy Saunders, 1818
Kennedy Road, Webster, New York 14580. To everyone who participates in these contributions,
we offer our most sincere gratitude and thanks.
Travel Information: Please relay your flight
schedule or travel arrangements to Vivian and Rich Mungall (phone:913-648-6374 – Email:
richm@zillerofkc.com). If you have any questions,
contact Rich & Vivian Mungall or Mike Sull (home phone: 913-856-8251 or cell phone: 913-219-1819).
This way we will know approximately how many plan to come.
After discussing the idea of this exhibition with several IAMPETH members, it became apparent
that the best time for such an exhibition would be Memorial Day Weekend. The reasons for this
are:
-
The fact that it is a holiday weekend allows most people the advantage of not having to
be back at their jobs on Monday morning. This means that anyone attending the exhibition may
feel comfortable about leaving the Kansas City area later on Sunday or Monday to go home.
-
Many calligraphy and penmanship workshops are scheduled during the summer including IAMPETH’s
convention. We did not want this exhibition to compete with other pre-scheduled workshops
or conferences
-
We didn’t want to schedule the convention during the school year for those who have children
and are caught up in hectic schedules.
This is an exciting once in a lifetime opportunity to see a fabulous collection of art that
has been hidden in storage for 70 years. Once this collection is scanned, it will return to
storage and the originals will not be on exhibit at the University of Scranton. Make sure
you read Mike Sull’s write up on the collection
and if it is possible – make plans to join us over Memorial Day Weekend for a opportunity
to view the works of the Masters of yesteryear.
