The Advanced Spencerian class is an extension of Beginning Spencerian class for individuals interested in furthering their penmanship skills. The focus of the class will be an in-depth study of alternate letter-forms, advanced entry and exit strokes suitable for the underlying principal strokes that make up the capitals, and a small bit of decorative work. We will NOT be going over the basic forms of the capitals themselves as that was offered in the Beginning Spencerian class. The focus in this class is the letter-forms themselves. Due to the elevated level of instruction, I ask that a person must have either participated in a previous Spencerian class, or have a good understanding of the underlying principal strokes of the capital letter-forms.

Nikko G or Zebra G nibs are recommended. More advanced students may prefer to use a more flexible nib. An oblique pen-holder is recommended. If left-handed, you may prefer to use a straight pen-holder depending on the amount of hook when you write. Old World Iron Gall ink, walnut ink, or any ink you like to use for pointed pen. Good quality translucent layout paper, Borden & Riley OR Canson, OR Clairefontane. A mechanical pencil .5 with extra lead. A red pencil for correction, A kneaded eraser, paper towels OR something to clean your nibs.
