Description:

The beauty of the missal letter with its decorative elements enhancing the text is something that can be incorporated in a modern design. We’ll examine 5 design elements and paint a piece which will demystify the process.

Supplies:

Watercolor paint, gouache – Blue (such as ultramarine); Warm Red (such as Cadmium Red); Medium green (such as Hooker’s Green); Yellow Ochre; White (such as Titanium or other); Black (such as Lamp Black, or other). Waterproof fine point marker (Pigma Micron 01 or 02, for instance); Brushes –Princeton monogram 20/0 or other fine line brush; pointed round size 1 or 0; scruffy brush for mixing paints; optional –shader brush (Princeton fine shader for example); paint palette with 6 or more wells; water containers for mixing and cleaning; pencil and eraser; paper towels; straight edge; 2-3 pieces of bond/copy/Rhodia paper for practicing diaper patterns/leaves/filigree, and for padding under painting. There is a $1.00 fee for the watercolor paper on which the image we will paint has been printed. I printed them in order to save class time, also you will not have to bring watercolor paper or items by which to transfer the image.
